The Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development carries out a novel plan that aims to improve and modernize the green areas, parks and gardens of the municipality of Murcia
In this way, spaces will be created that cover the needs of children, adults and the elderly.

The City Council, through the Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, directed by José Guillén, is committed to promoting the use of outdoor spaces, making them the central axis of the life of the municipality.
This will be possible, to a large extent, thanks to a new contracting system of the 'Services of conservation, maintenance and restoration of the gardens, trees of alignment, medians and roundabouts of the municipality of Murcia, as well as the necessary supplies' .
"It is a commitment to green areas, parks and gardens, which ultimately are the places where our adults and children spend most of their time, where they play, grow and have their first experiences with the city, and that is why the City Council has decided to promote them in a definitive way, improving their aesthetics, functionality, providing them with more modern services and making them more accessible.The fountains and the shade become fundamental, in a city like Murcia, where the sun and the heat accompany us during Much of the year, in short, it is a commitment to the quality of life of Murcia, "noted Councilor José Guillén.
As a novelty, the plan includes the revision and homologation of all the children's games in the municipality every two years, and a major renovation of the garden furniture, which will also expand sources, shade system and the playgrounds will be protected from Integral and adapted. In addition, it will mean the greatest transformation of the green areas of the municipality, encouraging all Murcia to its greater use and enjoyment, in order to increase their quality of life.
Another of the points taken into account by the City of Murcia is the conservation of the environment, requiring in the new contracts the incorporation of the use of 100% electric vehicles and the application, in all the processes that are going to be carried out, of products that do not damage the environment and favor the care of nature.
In addition to the significant number of investments and actions already scheduled or in execution from the Department of Urban Development, the plan is largely based on a new contract, subdivided into seven, and which establishes the technical basis for conservation, maintenance and restoration of the gardens and municipal green areas, as well as alignment trees, medians and roundabouts.
For the first time, this contract is mixed, so that renovation, restoration and supplies activities linked to the areas of conservation are also going to be carried out.
The winning companies will have a telephone and email to answer citizen calls for 24 hours, 365 days.
They will also have the development of an App and technology-based tools to facilitate communication with the citizen.
In the children's games posters with the telephone or email will be placed so that they can communicate the incidents.
The new awarded company will have to implement a Comprehensive IT Management System of the service that includes GIS database with inventory of the elements, so that all the trees, sources, banks, furniture, lakes, green areas and the rest of the elements that are in parks and gardens will be georeferenced and geolocated.
This will be the first major municipal contract in which all the implementation of technologies will be compatible with the MiMurcia smart city platform.
With this contract, the City of Murcia will be able to create new massifs of flower plants, greater surface of grass, increase the number of trees planted, place new zones of infantile games or gerontogimnasia, awnings or structures for the protection of the sun, substitution of pavements , transform lakes or sources and other actions duly valued in the award criteria.
The physiognomy of the gardens will also be renewed in an integral way, betting on shadows and water.
In addition, it includes environmental and social clauses, which will allow subcontracting some of the work with Special Employment Centers, as it happens with the cleaning of lakes and sources.
In addition, it aims to promote gender equality.
This innovative contract, which has been designed and drafted by the Parks and Gardens service, with the aim of improving and modernizing the green areas, parks and gardens of the municipality of Murcia, is in tender for a total amount of 58,997,161.40 euros
