The Popular Group of the City of Murcia has requested, through a motion in the Plenary of the City of Murcia, the Ministry of Development and ADIF the transfer of land from the old railway and the corresponding stations that exist in this route for the expansion of the Green Way.
This motion has been approved thanks to the votes of the Popular Group, Citizens and the non-attached councilor Francisco Javier Trigueros.
Councilman Antonio Navarro has informed about the importance of this project and that "the Greenway will transform the entire municipality, creating a unique green area in Murcia as this path, which runs from Los Dolores to Los Ramos and is a pedestrian street and 8.5 km long, it has an area of ​​40,000 square meters that will run through the districts of the Southern Cordillera, and it will be accessible and around 2,000 trees will be planted, which will create a green lung in our municipality. "
The popular councilor indicates that "the Ministry and Adif are requested to transfer these lands to make it possible for this project to grow, expand and connect this way with Zeneta, incorporating the disused stations that are in the layout. the Green Path would continue to develop, reaching the maximum number of districts and neighbors who will enjoy and benefit from this new infrastructure that we are working from the City of Murcia ".
"It is a project that aims to return to the neighbors a public space that belongs to them, these lands will create a mesh of green routes that will generate a new mobility by valuing the natural environment of the municipality, a path that will integrate and mimic the landscape ", adds Navarro.
