in the Magna Aula of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine |
The professor of the University of Murcia María Belén López Morales will enter this Tuesday, September 18, as academic number of the Academy of Veterinary Sciences, in an act that will take place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at 7:00 p.m.
The professor of Food Technology and current vice-chancellor of Infrastructure Planning, will offer a speech entitled "Emerging technologies and their impact on food security, which will be answered by academic Blas A. Marsilla de Pascual.
López Morales will argue that, due to the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda to fight against hunger and changes in consumer preferences, it is necessary to develop technologies that are different from traditional ones, which are fundamentally thermal.
These new technologies (high pressures, electric fields, ultrasounds ...) can guarantee safety and at the same time maintain the nutritional and sensory characteristics of food.
The professor will defend that in order to achieve this development it is necessary to harmonize the legislations between the different countries and to emphasize the training of the consumers to generate confidence with respect to said processes.
It is expected to preside over the act of Cándido Gutiérrez Panizo, president of the Academy;
José Luján Alcaraz, rector of the University of Murcia;
Juan Monzó Cabrera, general director of Universities and Investigation of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia;
Antonio Rouco Yañez, general secretary of the Academy;
and Francisco Alonso, Academic Number.
