Nerves and illusion have reigned in the Temple of the Monastery of Los Jerónimos, where the welcome ceremony has taken place for the students of the First Degree in Medicine at the Catholic University of Murcia.
This is the seventh promotion of this title, which last year graduated to its first doctors, who, after finishing their university studies are already immersed in the preparation of the examination of Internal Resident Physician (MIR).
Award for the best records
The work of the students with the best academic record of the different Medicine courses of the University has been recognized.
All of them will enjoy a scholarship to continue their studies at the UCAM, together with the CTO Group.
Emotive tribute
During the ceremony, a tribute was paid to Jesús María Herreros, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Health Technology and of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the UCAM, recently deceased.
Dr. Herreros performed, together with his mentor Ramón Arcas, the first lung and heart transplant carried out in Spain, as well as more than 150 heart transplants and he was the author of more than 30 books, half a thousand scientific publications and others so many communications in international congresses.
His surgical techniques were leading at European level, which earned him international recognition.
They have also wanted to pay homage to the students he has trained during these years and who have dedicated emotional words of thanks for their work.
