The Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, led by Conchita Ruiz, continues to promote collaboration agreements with non-profit entities established in the municipality of Murcia that attend and promote actions aimed at groups of greater social vulnerability.
In this sense, subsidies will be granted to the Federation of Social Support Network to the Immigrant (Rasinet), to the Spanish Association against Cancer and to the Support Foundation for Social and Labor Integration RAIS.
Thus, the City will collaborate with 80,000 euros with the RAIS Foundation to maintain the Center for Low Demand for Homeless People that provides care to 25 people who are in a situation of severe social exclusion.
The priority objective of this program is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of these people, who suffer from a high level of deterioration and a low level of access to resources.
This project aims to reverse the situation through a program of attention to basic needs.
With the Low-Demand Center responds to basic needs of the attendants served, such as food, hygiene, laundry, health care and social support, thus providing comprehensive care to the people there.
Respond to situations of crisis or social emergency
The Rais Foundation was born in 1998 -although it did not reach Murcia until 2008- with the idea of supporting the inclusion of people at risk or situation of social exclusion and, in this sense, its main objective has been the creation of social networks that favor the integration of the people with whom he works.
He began his career in Murcia 10 years ago with the project "The Rincón del Encuentro", a specific resource of minimum demand for homeless people in the municipality.
In addition, in these years he has carried out various projects aimed at homeless people and / or a situation of serious exclusion, such as the projects of Street Work, Settlements and Day Center for the Homeless, Semi-Supervised Floors of Support for Social Accompaniment and, in 2011, puts into operation a low-demand night center to welcome 6 people in winter.
One of the fundamental objectives is to respond to situations of crisis or social emergency from a first open, flexible and temporary, as a response to very different situations or situations that the care and emergency services of the City Council are.
Integrate the proposed actions in the municipal and regional attention network, favoring coordination and networking with the public services of the administration and with the rest of private entities in the same field
Access to a home
On the other hand, with the aim of improving the conditions of access, habitability, equality and dignity of the immigrant population in the housing area, favoring interculturality, social integration and culture for peace, the City Council of Murcia has renewed its commitment with the Rasinet Federation, with a subsidy of 75,000 euros.
In addition to access to housing, the project includes courses to instill participants with a series of skills for the correct use of the home and community living.
As for the Spanish Association against Cancer, the Department of Social Rights subsidizes with 16,000 euros the development of the Bullfighting Festival and the share of collaborating partner.
This bullfighting festival is traditionally organized in Murcia to raise funds for the benefit of this association and will celebrate its 25th edition next year.
