Enrique Ayuso has visited the bike lane works on Juan Carlos I and Los Pinos avenues and on Mar Menor street and has attended to the explanations of municipal technicians and those responsible for this construction, "absolutely necessary", as he pointed out.
"We have known technical details of a project that takes years of delay in the municipality and we are concerned about the pace at which these works are going," said the socialist mayor, who makes a strong defense of sustainable mobility and respectful of the environment .
"We defend the construction of bike lanes throughout the municipality, but that must be accompanied by a comprehensive mobility plan that includes the promotion of public transport, with more and better journeys in vehicles for collective use and also with more parking deterrents in which leave the car parked, "said Ayuso to add that" for this an adequate connection is necessary "and that" all this must be proposed as a global city project and not by isolated actions and that are also late ".
"The actions must be projected for the urban nucleus and also for the districts, because it is not necessary to forget that 60% of the population resides in the periphery", he remarked.
In addition, the councilor of the PSOE recalled that the construction projects of this bike lane, like all those carried out in the municipality, "must respect the existing trees."
"We demand that all the trees that, because there is no other remedy, be eliminated are replaced by others in the vicinity and that even the number of copies is increased," he also indicated.
