The Community has integrated the Fire Department of the city of Murcia into the Community's emergency digital network (Radiecarm network), a telecommunications infrastructure that the regional government places at the service of all the security and emergency organisms implanted in the Region .
The counselor of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, explained today in his visit to the Fire Station of Murcia that the Radiecarm network "allows to assure the radiocommunications of the integrated emergency services, both in the management of the ordinary emergencies and in the extraordinary emergencies situations and catastrophes. "
It is a public network, operated and maintained by the Community and independent of the commercial networks of private telecommunications operators, which is specifically designed to guarantee communications against critical mission situations.
"With it, the firefighters of Murcia can have access to messaging services in their terminals and use GPS tracking applications, to consult on the map the exact position of the incidents and those who come to attend them," said Rivera.
As an example of the service provided by this network in the event of disasters, the Minister of the Presidency recalled that "it allowed to ensure communication to the emergency services of the Region of Murcia after the earthquakes that occurred in Lorca on May 11, 2011, and thanks to her intervention and assistance services could be coordinated effectively. "
By being part of this network, the Murcia Fire Department will be able to communicate with other security and emergency services integrated into the network, depending both on their own municipality and on other administrations, such as the Community Fire and Rescue Extinction Consortium , the Forest Fire Defense Unit of the General Directorate of the Environment, the Health Emergency Management 061 of the Murcian Health Service, the Spanish Red Cross, and the Local Police and Civil Protection services of numerous municipalities.
The Radiecarm network provides service to a collective of 3,000 users of different competent bodies in matters of security and emergencies and has meant for the Community, in its ten years of operation, an investment of 9 million euros.
