Mario Urrea, president of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS), met this morning with the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta.
In this first contact, the main issues that may be the responsibility of the basin organization and that affect the municipality have been analyzed.
Regarding the storm sewer collector, Urrea explained that it is a project that has already been sent to the Ministry for Ecological Transition, and that it is in the technical approval phase.
It is an important project, whose budget would amount to 100 million euros and thanks to which would avoid the problems of flooding that occur in the northern part of the city when there are heavy rains.
On the other hand, during the meeting there was talk of the need to expand the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Murcia Este, since at the moment it is at the limit of its capacity.
The basin organization is aware of this problem and will work together with the consistory in this expansion.
During the meeting, Urrea is committed to promoting coordination between both administrations in the environmental regeneration of the Segura River, as well as in the use of this space for recreational and sports use.
It has also been announced that the Hacienda Board will shortly begin repairing the Contraparada, a work that corresponds to this community of irrigators since they are the owners of the infrastructure.
