Murcia change has today asked the government team of the City to press the regional government to prevent the cut in the schedule of the Regional Library, since next month will be reduced by three hours every Saturday.
The head of the Culture and Heritage group of municipal training, Mercedes Nicolás, has indicated that the cut "goes against" the raison d'etre of public libraries, which is precisely to facilitate the access of citizens to funds that they have.
"Cutting the schedule cut the possibility of accessing information, the possibility of researching, educating or enjoying, and is a clear example of failure by the PP of the right to access the culture recognized in the Constitution," said Nicolás .
In addition, in his opinion, this decision "upsets the quality achieved in the management of the extensive funds with which the Regional Library counts".
This reduction is not the first "attack" suffered by this installation in recent years.
Since 2012 it does not open on Sundays and in 2016 the regional government reduced its budget with the intention of closing on Saturdays, which would lead to the dismissal of 17 workers, but finally I do not carry it out.
As then, the citizens' initiative has launched a change.org (https://bit.ly/2MrOm23) to maintain the services of this facility.
