The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, this morning sent a letter to his namesake from Genoa, Marco Bucci, after receiving 'with pain of heart the bad news' about the Italian capital.
"It hurts me to know that your city, which I have personally come to know and appreciate during the last year, has fallen into this misfortune," says Ballesta, who confesses that he can not imagine what the neighbors of this town are going through.
'Our actions in the face of adversity define who we are, and the citizens of Genoa will seek guidance and leadership' in their mayor, says José Ballesta, who wishes Bucci 'the strength, endurance and perseverance to cope with this catastrophe.'
The Mayor, on behalf of all Murcia, has conveyed 'the deepest condolences for the lives lost in this incredible tragedy' and has assured that 'our thoughts and prayers are with the city of Genoa and with all the families that have lost your loved ones'.
Ballesta concludes his letter to Marco Bucci offering 'our support and help' on behalf of the city of Murcia, at the moment 'sister city of Genoa in everything but the name'.
