A collaboration agreement between the Murcian Health Service and the City of Murcia will allow the development of actions related to the attention to drug addiction.
The general objective is to carry out the development of specific programs aimed at the social integration of drug addictions, based on the Regional Plan on Drugs, with the support of associations and entities that develop activities in the field of drugs.
In this way, it corresponds to the regional public administration and local entities, within its powers to promote, coordinate, develop, support, control and evaluate programs and actions aimed at increasing the alternatives and opportunities to adopt healthy lifestyles.
These actions will include the development of the Tobacco Care Program foreseen in the Municipal Plan of Drug Addiction of the City of Murcia, as well as the financial support to associations and NGOs for the development of assistance activities and reintegration of drug addicts within the municipality of Murcia.
Drugs pose a public health problem due to their association with various and numerous diseases or accidents.
They also constitute a social problem because of the impact it has on the family and work environment, without forgetting its relationship with crime and, consequently, with citizen security.
