The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, through the Biodiversity Foundation, grants 20,000 euros to the UCAM to support the implementation of an Adaptation to Climate Change project, with which it will carry out training programs for adapt to the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Law.
It is one more measure of the Sustainable UCAM project.
The project, entitled 'Adaptation to climate change through methods and measures based on natural, eco-efficient and circular economy solutions to be incorporated into the environmental assessment procedures established by Law 21/2013', aims to launch a Training and Dissemination Plan , in which to involve professionals from different sectors, such as industry, agriculture or livestock, in the processes of adaptation and mitigation to climate change.
The objective is to establish a Technical Guide that enables adaptation to climate change as established by the Environmental Assessment Law, allowing the identification of preventive, corrective and compensatory measures based on natural solutions, eco-efficiency and circular economy.
Training activities will also be carried out, such as courses for more than two hundred technicians, talks or conferences and dissemination activities.
With this program, which now receives € 19,992 from the Directorate of the Biodiversity Foundation, the UCAM wants to improve the capacity of agents to choose the best preventive measures, as well as strengthen their technical capacity for adaptation and mitigation to change climate.
This is an action with which the Universidad Católica San Antonio extends its environmental commitment included in the Sustainable UCAM project and that includes actions 'paper 0' or energy efficiency in accordance with a Master plan that is being carried out by Suez Advanced Solutions jointly with the Technological Institute of Murcia (ITM) of the UCAM.
The Biodiversity Foundation, belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment, offers aid to non-profit entities and organizations that carry out projects in the field of adaptation to climate change, thus committing to conservation, sustainable use and the improvement of the natural heritage, generating employment and a positive impact.
The Foundation studies the effects of global change and innovative solutions for adaptation, the improvement of energy efficiency, the use of renewable energies, the reduction of CO2 emissions and the carbon footprint and the adoption of habits of responsible consumption to curb climate change.
