The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Minister of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, presented this morning the Plan of Peripheral Districts and Districts of the municipality of Murcia, an investment program that will reach the 59 districts of Murcia, which in the next Months will benefit from improvement works in parks, streets, squares and public spaces.
This Plan promoted by the regional government is an injection of 1,850,000 euros for the municipality of Murcia and a boost to employment thanks to the battery of actions and projects that, currently, the City is drafting through the councils of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development;
Infrastructure, Public Works and Services;
and Pedanías, Participation and Decentralization.
"The typology of works have been classified into five major groups: adaptation of sidewalks for universal accessibility, asphalt renovation, paving of squares and sidewalks, remodeling of gardens and shading in children's outdoor play areas," explained José Ballesta.
This month, the projects in each of the 59 districts will begin to be tendered, with an investment that ranges between 13,000 and 100,000 euros per work.
The works will begin to be executed before the end of the year.
The actions will allow to respond to requests transferred by the neighbors themselves, such as the remodeling of the Church Square of Los Martínez del Puerto, the rehabilitation of the Senior Center of Avileses or the installation of shadows in playgrounds of Llano de Brujas. , Zeneta, Rincón de Seca and San Pío X, among the total of planned actions.
More than 60% of the population of Murcia lives in districts
The districts of the municipality of Murcia occupy an area of ​​876 km 2, which is 98.7% of the total municipal area.
Sucina, with an extension of 64 km2 is located as the largest district, with an area greater than 73% of the more than 8,000 municipalities that make up Spain.
"The districts agglutinate more than 62% of the population of Murcia, with 275,051 inhabitants, and have become the preferred areas of the population to form a family," said the mayor, who added that "the districts of Murcia stand out for their services public, communications and quality of life, as evidenced by the fact that the population continues to grow in them, gaining ground in the city. "
Murcia is the municipality that receives the most funding from the four beneficiaries of the Region with more than 50,000 inhabitants, together with Cartagena, Lorca and Molina de Segura, which account for more than 55% of the population.
This Plan, which aims to help the Administration closest to the citizen, which are the town halls, is resumed after eight years, since in 2011 it was interrupted due to the crisis.
