The Governing Board has approved its award, amounting to 2.2 million euros.
This river walk, for pedestrians and cyclists, will be located between the Manterola walkway and the Alameda del Malecón.
It is the third major project of Murcia River that is launched, along with the gardens of the Four Stones-already inaugurated-and the Alameda -actually under construction-.
The construction and the beginning of the works of the River Segura of the Segura River, between the footbridge of Manterola and the motorway of Murcia and its connection with the Paseo del Malecón, will be a reality in the coming weeks, after the agreement adopted today by the Board of Government for the awarding of the works, with a bidding budget of more than 3.5 million euros, which has finally been awarded for an amount of 2,211,000 euros and a deadline of 9 months.
This is the start of the third major project that is part of 'Murcia River', after the gardens of the Four Stones-already completed-and the Alameda del Malecón -in these moments in execution-.
The hike contracted today involves the creation of a green itinerary of 20,000 m 2 for pedestrian and cyclist use, with family areas of stay and walk and segregated and bidirectional bicycle lane.
It will run along the left bank of the river, connecting the Manterola gangway area with the Alameda del Malecón, on the other side of the highway, and will extend through fully urban, peri-urban and orchard areas, so that its objective will be to vertebration and gradual connection of the city with its agricultural and natural environment.
"The city will thus gain an urbanized walk along the river, from Manterola to the rear area of Murcia-Parque and the conservatory, which will give way to a greener transition zone on the fluvial front of the Malecón's deterrent parking, from which It will access the garden areas and the new green spaces of the Alameda del Malecón and the Cuatro Piedras, with the aim of promoting the use of gardens and green areas as a meeting place for young people, children and children. adults "added the Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén.
The new pedestrian promenade will stand slightly above the river and with a direct view of its channel, as an alternative route to the Malecón.
The connection between these two pedestrian circuits will be articulated by a greenway that will border the current deterrent parking.
In addition, part of the current Murcia Parque complex will be conditioned to create a new access from the riverbed.
A small gap serves to articulate the separation between the two areas, rounded and pedestrian, while the itinerary will be endowed with a tree-lined row of poplars, alms or elms, accompanied by shrub and ornamental plants of Mediterranean character (laurel, broom, Rosaceae, elderberry, brambles, tarays).
The project will have a 'smarting' component, integrating the application of new technologies to sustainability.
"The intelligent management of cities, the Smart model applied to the public sphere, has a priority and essential objective, to put these technological advances at the service of people to improve their quality of life and the environment in which they live" commented José Guillen.
The works have been awarded to Gestaser, Obras y Servicios SL, with a budget of 2.2 million euros.
Murcia looks out to the river
Last month the garden of the Four Stones was inaugurated, which constitutes the first river park of the city project 'Murcia Río'.
With a plot of 3,000 m 2 , it connects the Paseo del Malecón with the Mota del Segura, through a green path for family and sports leisure, with more than fifty large trees and an intelligent lighting and management system of irrigation.
Likewise, work has begun on the Alameda del Malecón in 20,000 m 2 , which has a budget of 1.1 million euros, and integrates and connects the landscape and the walking and cycling routes of the River and the Malecón.
The three performances will allow 'look out to the Segura'.
