The City Council has completely renovated the garden next to the San José de Calasanz school, the main green area of ​​the district and a meeting place for the neighborhood and celebration of patron saint festivities.
The dance floor has been treated with non-slip material and the stage has been put in value, which has been arranged and painted, fountains and games of petanque have also been installed.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, opened this morning in Alquerías the garden known as' del barrio del Pilar, located next to the San José de Calasanz school, a green area of ​​4,000 m2 in the center of the hamlet, which as of today It has a new children's play area, a petanque court and green paths.
"It is the main green area of ​​the district and local gathering place and celebration of patron saint, so the modernization and comprehensive renovation of this public space directly benefit the more than 6,000 residents of Alquerías," said José Crossbow.
All the paving and green paths of the garden have been renovated, respecting the shadow spaces provided by the existing trees (olive trees, palm trees, etc.).
In addition, new species have been planted.
The entire street furniture has also been renovated, new benches have been installed, and the dance floor has been treated with non-slip material, in order to enhance the setting, which has been arranged and painted.
Likewise, walls and walls have been treated with paint, and graffiti and stains have been eliminated.
The gardening has consisted of replanting grasslands, creating new beds and a floral ring in the ornamental fountain.
In terms of equipment, a new children's area has been implemented that complements the existing one next to the stage, and a new petanque court with the regulatory measures.
The action, which has involved an investment of 73,400 euros by the Department of Modernization of Urban Management and Development directed by José Guillén, has had a deadline of five months.
"Our goal is to improve the quality of life of the neighbors and for this, we have opted for the renovation and the usability of the green areas and outdoors."
