From the figurative to the abstract

Each artist has focused on different aspects of the López-Ferrer Garden, located behind the City Museum, painting its different elements from nature and using different styles that range from the figurative to the abstract, as well as various techniques, among which the watercolor predominates.

The works, 70x100 cm, were painted yesterday morning and are exhibited as of today at the City Museum, where they will remain until the end of September.

An orchard with roots in the Murcia of 1479

The Huerto López-Ferrer is the only representative of the lower Medievo gardens that accompanied the manor houses on the outskirts of the city.

The orchard of Hispano-Muslim origin is watered by a recreation of the course of the Caravija canal, whose original channel flows underground today.

This natural space, which has species as diverse as palms, figs and magnolias, as well as aromatic plants, was known since ancient times as the orchard of Cadenas or Junterón, and was conceived as a recreational area of the house (originally from the 19th century) which currently houses the Museum of the City.

The first references about this space go back to 1479. The building and the Garden became municipal property in 1994.
