The Municipal Socialist Group has proposed the recovery of youth homes, especially in districts, in order to offer a continuous program of training in values, leisure, participation and volunteering.
The councilor Maite Espinosa, who will take this proposal to the Plenary, recalls that there was a time when youth houses were the place of participation of young people and could now be suitable spaces for the exchange of opinions, to raise awareness on such issues hot as violence in any of its aspects, the abuse of social networks and the internet or the environment, and also for their own entertainment, where they can listen to the music they like and play games that motivate them.
Therefore, the old network of youth homes in the districts was offered to young people, who had the opportunity to program the activities that most interested them.
The objective of these premises was to promote the association, boost the environment, develop an educational and socializing action, encourage volunteering, echoing the needs of young people and their problems.
For Espinosa, the three existing youth centers in the municipality of El Palmar, La Nave and 585m2 are not enough, among other reasons because they do not cover all the young people, mainly those who live in remote districts, since, "as is known , we do not have precisely the best transport service, which is why our young people have significant displacement difficulties ".
"Today more than ever we believe it is necessary to recover the houses of youth in which boys and girls can not only organize their leisure time, but also can be used as a study and training room, program musical activities or debates "says the councilor, who adds that" fortunately and given the characteristics of our municipality, it is rare the district that does not have a municipal center and in these, young people could organize themselves and carry out activities that may interest them. "
For all this "and in order that young people throughout the municipality can have access to the various programs subsidized by this City Council and can organize and manage the activities in each of the districts that interest them, we believe that the Youth Department could provide spaces in coordination with the municipal boards, "says Maite Espinosa.
