Next Monday, July 9, the 51st edition of the International Festival of Folklore in the Mediterranean begins, offering up to twenty literary, artistic and dance activities.
The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesus Pacheco, explained that "we put all our effort in that activities, besides being free, are developed outdoors because we want to give life to our streets and squares and bring to the public the culture and traditions of the countries that visit us ".
The groups participating in this edition come from the Philippines, Hungary, Russia, Albania and Mexico, which are added to those from Murcia, Cáceres and Cantabria.
The beginning of the festival will be starred by 20 artists who, on Monday, from 10 am to 2 pm, will paint live in the gardens of the City Museum the works that will make up an exhibition: Nicolás de Maya, Hurtado Mena, Antonio Tapia, Araceli Reverte, Silvia Viñao, Manuel Páez, Antonio Sánchez, Jesus Silvente, Patricia Gómez, Manolo Pardo, Burgueño, Alfonso del Moral, Cristóbal Pérez, Martínez Torres, Elisa Ortega, Ana Martínez, A. Mengual, Ruben Zambudio, Esther Monasterio and Pepe Montijo.
At night, at 9:00 pm, at the Plaza de la Cruz, the flamenco ensemble composed by Oscar Zoilo, on guitar and Irene Carrión, will perform with the cello and the voice.
The first parade of the participating folklore groups will take place on Tuesday, at 9:00 p.m.

Grupo Juellega Extremeña from Valencia de Alcántara (Cáceres), Khasavyurt (Republic of Daghestan-Russian Federation), Group of Choirs and Dances Siete Coronas, from Peña Huertana La Crilla (Murcia), Mokra Folkloric Ansamble (Albania), Grupo Santa Justa Danzas of Ubiarco (Cantabria), Culture and Mexican Tradition (Mexico) and Folklore Group Virgen de la Vega (Murcia) will tour the Plaza del Romea, Santo Domingo Square, Calle Trapería, Plaza de la Cruz, Calle Salzillo and Plaza del Cardenal Belluga.
At 21.45 hours will be lit the Torch of Friendship and hoisted flags, in the Plaza Belluga where the musical group will play The Muses of Guadalupe, with popular themes of folklore of Murcia and Spain and the Festival Anthem International Folklore in the Mediterranean, with music by Ginés Torrano and arrangements for the Ginés Abellan Alcaraz band.
At midnight on Tuesday will begin the cycle 'Trasnochando: My gardens Murcia', a physical and temporary space of the Museum of the City in which readings, declamations and dialogues of literary texts selected by Soren Peñalver and in which Isabelle García will participate Molina;

On Wednesday, July 11, at 7.30 pm, the seminar on Folklore and Ethnography will be held with the reading of the papers 'The notarial protocols: Ethnographic documentation and notarial protocols' by Manuel Muñoz Zielinski;
and 'Traditional musical backgrounds on the Internet' by M.ª Luján Ortega.
At 20.30 hours will arrive at different points of the city 'Come dance with us' in which the groups will act Juellega Extremeña de Valencia de Alcántara on Avenida de la Libertad;
Mokra Folkloric Ansamble in the Plaza de la Cruz and Mexican Tradition (Mexico), in the Plaza Santo Domingo.
At 22:00 in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga will take place the opening session of the festival in which the group of Choirs and Dances of Murcia, the Reg. Francisco Salzillo Association, Culture Philippines of Ontario will perform.

On Thursday, July 12, there will be a floral offering to the Virgen de la Fuensanta, by groups participating in the festival at the Sanctuary of Fuensanta.
At 7.30 pm, the Seminar on Folklore and Ethnography will be starring 'The musical songs of Inzenga, Calvo and Verdú: 3 documentary sources of popular music from Murcia', by Jairo Juan García and Tomás García Martínez;
and 'Popular organism of animal origin' by Norberto López Núñez.
At 20:30 a new session of 'Come and dance with us' will be held with Culture Philippines of Ontario (Philippines) on Avenida de la Libertad;
Kéve Folk Dance Group (Hungary) in Plaza Santo Domingo and Khasavyurt, (Republic of Daghestan-Russian Federation) in Plaza de la Cruz.

On Friday, July 13, the works carried out by the painter Nicolás de Maya to the different participating groups during their performances in the festival sessions will be exhibited in the Plaza Belluga.
This edition will end at 10 pm with the performance of all the groups participating in the Festival and the turning off of the Friendship Torch also at the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga.
