The action has led to the creation of large grass meadows, paved trails with shaded areas and fully renovated accesses.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, will attend this afternoon with the residents of Beniaján the opening ceremony of the Garden of Monteazahar, a new green area of ​​10,000 m2 in the center of the hamlet, with grass meadows, new paths paved with areas of stay in the shade and accesses renewed.
"It is the largest green area of ​​the district and local meeting place and celebration of patron saints, so the comprehensive renovation of this public space with 30 years of history will directly benefit the more than 11,000 residents of the Villa ", said José Ballesta.
Likewise, the area has been enlarged in front of the stage, in order to expand the area where events are held and the two main access points.
In addition, the City Council has renewed the image of the stage with a metallic front screen-printed and backlit in which you can read 'Beniaján'.
The action has meant the total replacement of urban furniture, with the installation of 20 new wooden benches and two drinking fountains.
"Environmentally sustainable materials have been used and allow full integration into the new garden of Monteazahar, whose paths and green spaces have been filled with colors and life," said the mayor.
The existing children's area has been completed with a green recreational and social area with anti-graffiti benches in different colors, under the shade of large trees.
Architectural barriers throughout the garden have been eliminated to solve mobility problems.
The action has included the complete reseeding of grass meadows and areas of shrubs covered with white gravel.
The action, which has involved an investment of close to 100,000 euros by the Department of Modernization of Urban Administration and Development, has had a deadline of four months.
The neighbors will open a participatory process on the Greenway
After the inauguration of the Garden of Monteazahar, José Ballesta and members of his government team will attend a participatory meeting that will have the presence of different social groups and associations of the district, and in which many neighbors will take the floor to raise their proposals of improvement on different topics.
One of the issues on which a participatory process will open will be the future Greenway that will link seven districts of the south, from Los Dolores to Los Ramos, whose works will begin in the coming weeks.
The old section of the railway will soon create a large green path of more than 8 kilometers for pedestrians and cyclists, in which more than 1,800 trees will be planted.
