A total of 12 groups from 12 cities and 6 countries (Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile) will participate in the XXII edition of the International Competition of Tunas Barrio del Carmen, to be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th of July in the Artillery Barracks and whose poster has been prepared by Álvaro Peña.
The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, explained that "this event has been the emblem of Marca España since 2015, which makes it the second and only event in the Region, together with the International Festival of Singing of Minas, to have this recognition As a sign of its determined internationalization, the presence, for the first time in an event of its characteristics, of participants from 6 nationalities stands out ".
In total about 300 tunos will participate, in addition to filling this venue with music, they will perform rounds and parades in different areas of the city.
The participating priests are the Tuna of the Faculty of Law of Almería, the Estudiantina La Trobada of Santiago de Chile, the Estudiantina of the Mexiquense University of the Bicentennial of Tultitlán (Mexico), the Royal Academic Tunnel of Viseu (Portugal), the Tuna Femenil of the National Pedagogical University of Mexico City, the Tuna Navarra of Bogotá (Colombia), the Tuna of the Faculty of Public Accounting and Admon.
of the UANL of Monterrey (Mexico) and the Tuna of the San Agustín National University of Arequipa (Peru).
To them they will be added, outside contest, the Tuna Novata Feminine of Medicine of Valencia, the Cuarentuna of La Coruña and the Cuarentuna of Málaga
Admission is free and every evening there will be tastings and surprises for the attendees.
The awards given by the contest have fallen this year in the singer Ruth Lorenzo, as godmother, and the journalist Miguel Massotti, as Grand Master.
In this edition the festival will premiere a new format incorporating two finals of semifinals (Thursday and Friday) and a great final gala on Saturday with the best classified groups.
In addition, on Friday night there will be a special performance by Ruth Lorenzo.
Created in 1997, its nearly 3,000 participants from 121 groups from 65 cities, 11 countries and 3 continents endorse it as the international benchmark in its category.

The contest, co-organized with the District Tuna of the University of Murcia, has the institutional support of the City Council, the University of Murcia, the Regional Government and Marca España, as well as with the sponsorship of El Corte Inglés, Estrella de Levante , Bodegas Juan Gil and Cajamurcia Foundation.
