Today the representatives of the European Commission and the 22 partners of Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Malta, Greece, Latvia, Turkey, Czech Republic, Tunisia and Slovenia have launched it in Los Jerónimos.
Contributing to rural development with an innovative design of circular business model, replicable in other European territories, is the goal of `LIVERUR', the largest European project led by the Catholic University of Murcia, and which was inaugurated this morning at the Campus of Los Jerónimos.
The event was attended by representatives of the institutions that will support the project, from Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Malta, Greece, Latvia, Turkey, Czech Republic, Tunisia and Slovenia.
The International Projects Office (OPRI) of the Murcian institution is in charge of coordinating this important project, co-financed by the EU, within the framework of the prestigious H2020 program.
Pablo Cano, director of the OPRI, said that this initiative will "develop our economy, improve employment and strengthen the business fabric."
To do this, new business models will be created, with living laboratories for rural development, based on the circular economy.
Estrella Núñez, Vice Chancellor for Research of the UCAM, said that "science must be at the service of society, to improve the lives of citizens and provide them with a better well-being and future. Our University and the objective of this project With this new H2020, the UCAM will work to improve the economic fabric and to favor entrepreneurship and the creation of future jobs ".
Modernization of small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises
LIVERUR pursues the modernization of small and medium agricultural enterprises, crucial actors in the structure and dynamics of the rural economy of the European Union, and is that rural activities in Europe are still carried out mainly by small or very small farms.
In this sense, the objective of the project is to identify and analyze different approaches of business models, create added value, social cohesion, jobs, integration of interest groups, inclusion of actors and business resilience against global markets and the impacts of change climate.
The project will have in the Region of Murcia with the participation of different researchers from the areas of Administration and Business Management, Law and Communication of the UCAM, responsible for supervising innovation and dissemination activities respectively;
as well as with the involvement of different partners of the Vega del Segura, who will implement this pilot methodology to find new viable business models.

Tomorrow, Thursday, the participants in the project will visit the surroundings of Blanca, Abarán and Cieza, with the objective of knowing pilot areas for the implementation of the project.
Incubator
This new project is presented only a few days after the presentation of another European project achieved by the UCAM, through INCYDE, that of a High Technology Incubator in Health, Sports and Food, aimed at enriching the business fabric and the economic development of the Region of Murcia.
