Mario Gómez: "The Murcia Consistory should begin the process of preparation to be able to buy in the free market and without intermediaries the energy consumed by the City Council"
The spokesman for Citizens, Mario Gómez, will defend a motion proposing that the City of Murcia take the first steps to move towards the transformation of Murcia at the energy level.
"This would allow us to save up to 20% in the consumption of electricity and move towards greater energy sovereignty, once the existing contracts have been completed."
Audit
Thus, Gomez will propose to the local government to appoint a responsible technician in charge of carrying out an internal audit to review the number, type of contract, as well as the different consumptions that the Murcia Consistory has;
or failing that - he has detailed - that he will tender the specifications for a specialized company to carry it out.
"The result of this audit," he stressed, "would allow us to have a map of the energy consumption needs of the City Council in a detailed manner and concrete data on the feasibility of the change in energy consumption."
In this sense, Gómez recalled that, for a long time, municipalities have encountered difficulties in achieving efficient contracting of electricity supply in the retail market.
For this reason, he noted, "some cities such as Zaragoza, Vigo, Aviles or Rivas Vaciamadrid have decided to operate as a direct consumer in the energy market."
"The energy efficiency and economic savings is becoming a priority for the municipalities of the country," said the spokesman for Citizens, who hopes that "the local government becomes aware of the situation and take the necessary measures so that Murcia can become in a true smart city that buys electricity from the highest bidder and decides what energy it wants to consume.
