Cambiemos Murcia has submitted a motion to municipalize the bicycle rental service because it understands that its public management is "profitable" from the economic point of view and, in addition, would help to extend it to districts and facilitate coordination with other local public services and the achievement of the objectives of the Bicycle Office.
Nacho Tornel, the councilor who signs the motion, has indicated that to make municipal management a reality, it is necessary to prepare a technical feasibility study and the "obvious" social benefit that could result from the implementation of the service. through public resources.
Regarding this proposal, the mayor of the municipal training has considered that it is convenient that the report is ready for next October, and has bet that it is the current director of the Bicycle Office responsible for it.
In the initiative, Cambiemos Murcia refers to the precarious situation in which the Municipal Bicycle Service is now, managed by a UTE, and insists on the need for it to be assumed by the City Council.
"We understand that direct management can open new possibilities, for example, through coordination with the municipal services of training could be undertaken conducting job training courses aimed at the functions of the service," he added the mayor.
This would allow, even, that the personnel employed in the maintenance and repair of bikes, management of benches, inspection and care of bicycle lanes, among others, will become part of the staff of the Bicycle Office, direct manager of the service.
The proposal of Cambiemos Murcia in regards to Oficina would include the creation of a "real staff structure", with a Service Headquarters with two people attached;
a Head of Bureau of Administration with two administrative assistants and ex officio staff.
Currently, there are only two people in charge of the work of this organization.
