The Military School of Legal Studies, in Madrid, has received the graduation of the second promotion of the Master in Spanish Military Law taught by the Catholic University of Murcia.
The event was chaired by the Assistant General Director of Education, Brigadier General Pedro José García Cifo, who highlighted the success of the implementation of this official master's degree, unique in Spain in which the different branches of military law are studied.
This year's promotion was formed by a large number of lawyers who practice their profession in different parts of the national territory (as in Valencia, Coruña, Canary Islands, Mallorca, Madrid, Zaragoza or Salamanca), and by a large group of officers of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard.
This promotion was sponsored by the General Counsel of the Defense, the General Counselor Togado Ricardo Cuesta del Castillo, who thanked the thirty-five students who make up this class for this distinction and encouraged them to continue studying on such a changing subject as the Military Law.
The event, held last Friday, was attended by numerous military, civil and academic authorities, such as the president of the Central Military Court, several magistrates of the Military Chamber of the Supreme Court, the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the UCAM;
the President of the Military Law Section of the Madrid Bar Association or the Legal Advisor of the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers of NATO in Europe (SHAPE).
On the part of the students, the lawyer González Acuña, thanked the cadre of professors, integrated almost entirely by members of the Military Legal Body, their dedication and dedication, since thanks to this they have been able to know in depth each and every one of the branches that make up the Military Law, such as the Military Operational Law, Disciplinary and Personnel Law of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, Military Procedural Law or Military Criminal Law.
He also stressed that thanks to this master's degree they have had the opportunity to visit such important institutions as the Supreme Court, the State Attorney General's Office, the General Directorate of the Civil Guard, the Military Penitentiary Establishment and the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Forces of NATO in Europe (SHAPE, Belgium).
The director of the master, Juan Carlos de la Cerra, wanted to highlight in his speech that this official master's degree in just two editions has trained more than seventy people in a subject as specific as the Military Law, also having international projection, having had students who have taken this master's degree from Colombia, Belgium or Germany, proof of the great impact it has had even outside our borders.
He also stressed that they have already opened the registration period for the third edition, with a very good reception, highlighting that it is a master in online mode, which makes it easier for students from different geographical areas, as well as students they value very positively the complementary activities that they carry out throughout the year, which although they are voluntary, serve to consolidate knowledge and know first-hand the Armed Forces, the Civil Guard and NATO.
