The University of Murcia organizes on July 5, 6 and 7 the 'VI Encounter of feminist thought: devouring your machismo', which will take place in the business incubator 'El Coso' of Cehegín and the House of Culture of Calasparra .
This meeting, led by Professor Gloria Alarcón, has been held since 2009 to analyze the role of public policies in achieving gender equality in Europe and, in particular, in Spain.
Since 2014, the seminar has been organized by the Public Policy and Gender Network of Cehegín, with the aim of maintaining the level of debate and its desire for the construction of feminist thinking around the public.
After the latest events in Spanish society that occurred in 2018, women, mainly, but also men, have broken into the streets denouncing the situation of disadvantage and danger of women.
In this context, this meeting is particularly relevant, since its purpose is not only to analyze the situation but also to propose actions to move forward.
In view of the conceptual revolution that is taking place and the need to analyze and work on the social and political change in which we are immersed, the VI edition of the Feminist Thought Encounter aims to analyze the causes of machismo and patriarchy in our society. society, as well as the possible ways of dismantling latent and explicit machismo both in society and in institutions.
