The Municipal Socialist Group claims the City Council drafting a Territorial Action Plan for the Huerta de Murcia, which is designed in conjunction with local social agents, agricultural cooperatives, small businesses, hotels and neighbors.
The objective of this plan will be to relaunch the image of the Huerta, its products and its heritage, and will also serve to reorder the uses, regulate in a very strict way the constructions and enhance the cultural landscape.
Said petition will be formulated by councilman Enrique Ayuso in the plenary next Thursday through a motion in which he will also ask the local government to intensify the urban inspections to prevent the collapse of the territory of the traditional garden, until it has been defined the Territorial Action Plan.
The proposal of the PSOE will also include the request to the Consistory to incorporate the Huerta de Murcia to the Network of the European Green Infrastructure, establishing in the mentioned plan the opportune measures that serve to create ecological corridors in all the municipality.
"At present we suffer the lack of protection of thousands of hectares of the Huerta, which were classified as special urban or urban land in 2006. Those lands were fragmented into dozens of small bags that can hardly maintain their productive or agricultural profitability and with an absolute lack of control of isolated buildings In the first years of the real estate boom, up to 12,000 new buildings proliferated in La Huerta, surpassing the provisions established in the General Plan of Urban Planning (PGOU) and today, 17 years after its approval, we continue without control the clogging areas of residential buildings in these areas, "says Ayuso, who believes that this is" an appropriate time "to implement the Territorial Action Plan.
"As a result of the construction crisis in recent years, this disorderly and devastating growth has been minimized, at least in relation to the one suffered in previous years, which is why, from the Socialist Group, we consider that it is an appropriate time to start work on a Territorial Action Plan for the Huerta de Murcia, which serves to enhance the value of its historical, hydraulic, cultural, landscape and agricultural heritage, protecting its values ​​and reactivating and revitalizing agricultural activity, "says the socialist mayor.
"Because of the sloppiness and complicity of the Popular Party in recent decades has lost 46% of the agricultural area of ​​the municipality and we can not remain impassive before that," he concluded.
