'University and business leadership' UCAM (21/06/2018)

Miguel López Abad, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Murcia, assures that the regional business trend is towards the Circular Economy, but that there is a lack of training and awareness.

The UCAM works in three own titles in circular economy and collects the business experiences in this meeting organized by the ITM of the UCAM

The Circular Economy is a business strategy that aims to optimize the flow of materials, energy and waste, and convert them again, in raw materials, with the environmental benefit that entails.

Miguel López Abad is president of the Chamber of Commerce of Murcia, but he is also the general director of Global Paris, a holding company created from a family business, which has been working in waste treatment for more than 40 years, transforming them into raw materials for the generation of new products.

López Abad has presented "Circular Economy: challenges and opportunities in the Region of Murcia" in the cycle 'University and business leadership' organized by the Technological Institute of Murcia (ITM) of the Catholic University San Antonio.

For López Abad, "the Circular Economy is the intersection of environmental and economic aspects, but it is also solidarity, responsibility with those who come later." At Global Paris we understood that it was not enough to fragment the vehicles, separate them into pieces and reuse them, we gave ourselves Note that the car without parts also has value, everything is reusable, this means a saving and a reduction of gases into the atmosphere, so all companies must do an exercise of responsibility and ask themselves what they can do to incorporate the Circular Economy to their daily activity, the administrations try to create awareness, in my opinion they must put the rules to the employers in a demanding way, but at the same time agile and feasible ".

The Universidad Católica San Antonio also contributes its grain of sand to the Circular Economy.

The Vice Chancellor for Research Estrella Núñez said that "we are going to launch three of our own titles in different areas of the Circular Economy, so we are very interested in knowing what the companies of the Region do in reusing waste and energy. in a European LIFE CLEAN UP project in which the European Union, through the LIFE call, will co-finance, with one and a half million euros, the development of this research project led by the UCAM, which consists of a new method for treat wastewater, which allows to eliminate emerging pollutants, resistant to conventional treatments. "
