The PSOE demands more scholarships and public squares of early childhood education for boys and girls at risk of social exclusion in Murcia (20/06/2018)

The spokeswoman Susana Hernandez will ask in the Plenary to urgently launch a Plan to Combat Childhood Poverty, which would translate into more resources and human resources of the City to meet the needs of children in the municipality

The Municipal Socialist Group will defend a motion in the plenary on Thursday, 28, requesting the Governing Board to approve and urgently launch a Plan to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion of Children and that said plan be endowed with the necessary financing.

In addition, the Governing Board will be urged to promote early childhood education by creating more public places for early childhood education since focusing only on children under 0 to 4 years in the municipality there are almost 10,000 of them at risk of social exclusion .

Likewise, the local government will be asked to reinforce the municipal social services with more economic means and human resources to be able to respond to the situation of the minors affected in Murcia.

"We understand that from the City Council we must make all the necessary efforts to ensure that our little ones have an adequate diet and for this we would have to start up all the possible solutions, the most immediate of which is the expansion of the number of scholarships for dining," she acknowledges. Hernandez

"From our responsibility as public representatives of citizenship, we must be even more scrupulous, if possible, with the protection of the rights of children in our municipality, especially with those who are at risk of poverty or social exclusion," says the socialist spokesperson in the Town Hall, Susana Hernández, who makes reference to the report "Situation of the childhood in the Region of Murcia 2017", published by UNICEF and elaborated by this organism next to the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

This study indicates that four out of every 10 children living in the Region of Murcia are at risk of poverty or social exclusion, an index higher than the national average (32.9%) and that of the European Union (26.9%) ).

This data calls for deep reflection.

"The councilors and councilors of this City Council can not give back to those who are in a situation of vulnerability," explains the mayor of the PSOE.

"Understanding that our municipality is not an island on the margin of the Region, that we concentrate practically a third of the regional population, and that according to our municipal age pyramid we have 100,000 inhabitants between 0 and 18 years old, we could say that 40,000 minors of our municipality would be at risk of social exclusion, "says Hernández.

"From the Socialist Group we invite the Plenary of the City to acquire a greater commitment to them, they are our future and for this future to be more just and egalitarian we must put aside our political differences and bet on what really matters", adds .
