El Palmar will become the first district of the municipality to install violet points, in other words, spaces to which women can go for advice or report sexist aggressions during their popular festivities, which will run from June 23 to 30.
This initiative is the result of the campaign that the municipal council of El Palmar launched last year under the slogan "Free parties of machismo aggressions, does not mean no", which consisted of the distribution of brochures, posters, photocall and some tarpaulins placed on both sides of the stage where the concerts were held.
This year, the campaign is extended with the placement of violet points in which there will be volunteers who previously, on June 20, at 7:00 pm, at the cultural and social center of El Palmar, will receive a talk on how to identify an aggression sexist and the necessary steps to denounce it.
Self defense workshop
For these holidays, the municipal board has also prepared backpacks, badges and bracelets with the logo of the campaign, and has organized a free personal defense workshop for women on June 21, at 7:00 pm, in the sports pavilion of The Palmar.
In addition, the chairman of the board, Daniel Hernández, and the member of Youth, Ana Serrano, visited the two public institutes of the parish to raise awareness and awareness of the importance of participating in the campaign to make the festivities of El Palmar a space free of sexist violence.
