On Tuesday, June 19, UMU Philosophy professor Francisco Jarauta will give the conference "Refugees: time of responsibility".
It will be at 7 pm in the Hemicycle of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Murcia.
The activity is part of the celebration of World Refugee Day, and ACCEM, the Mare Nostrum Campus, Refugees Education and Human Rights and the Erasmus + Program of the European Union participate in it.
World Refugee Day is commemorated as an expression of solidarity and awareness with all refugees.
According to data from the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), there are currently more than 65 million refugees, displaced persons and / or stateless persons in the world.
Armed conflicts, poverty and underdevelopment are the main causes of forced displacement of the population.
Situations that draw today a scenario of flagrant violation of fundamental rights for many people in the five continents.
"It is not about sharing a burden, but about sharing a global responsibility, based both on the general idea that we are all human and on the very specific obligations contracted under international law."
- António Guterres, Secretary General of the UN.
