"An innovative show, with an amazing staging, will fill the Fofó Park with talent, youth and freshness," said José Ballesta.
It is the final number 26 of a contest that has established itself as a national platform of Murcian musical talent, with proper names such as Second, Funambulista or Rozalén
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Youth, Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, Rebeca Pérez, today presented the finalist bands of CreaMurcia in the pop-rock category: WAW, Pájara Rey and The Meatpies, three groups that will measure their talent in the grand final that will take place this Friday, June 15, in the Fofó Park.
"It is the final number 26 of this contest and the spectators will attend an innovative show, with an amazing staging, in which the new batch of Murcian musical talent will make a waste of talent, youth and freshness," said José Ballesta in the presentation of the bands, which took place this morning in the Hall of Mirrors of the Romea Theater.
Of the more than 40 groups that have been presented, these three finalists will have half an hour to demonstrate their know-how live.
The concert will begin at 9:30 p.m. in the Parque de Fofó and will feature Andrés Suarez as guest artist.
Tickets are already on sale and are priced at € 8 on sale in advance and 12 at the box office.
After the proceedings, the technical jury, chaired by Councilwoman Rebeca Pérez, will decide the ruling.
Among the members of the jury are experts from the world of music from various professional profiles such as Daniel García Carreres, Ángel Hernández Sopena, Ángel José Navarro Andúgar, Claudia Orellana Sanz and Juan Albadalejo, as secretary.
The winners of the first prize will receive 1,500 euros.
In addition, with the aim of promoting their songs they will record a CD that will compile the awarded themes.
There will also be a second and third prize of 800 euros and 500 euros, respectively.
In addition, six groups of each category (pop-rock, signature song and other trends, a total of 18 bands) will receive municipal aid for rehearsal venues.
"The music scene in Murcia is boiling and, in fact, of the 11 artistic categories of CreaMurcia, the musical is the most successful among our young people, reaching records with more than 140 groups and more than 500 musicians, in its three styles" , the mayor said.
WAW
Fausto, Salva, Peps and Abel are WAW, a musical project born in Murcia in 2016 formed by four university students with similar musical interests and with the main objective of giving the greatest number of live concerts possible.
They play different genres (rock, funky, reagge ...) and their sound is characterized by a fresh dynamic in which absurd lyrics and a blunt instrumental stand out.
Pájara Rey
Rosa (bass and choruses), Martaé (keyboards), Virginia (guitar and voice) and Belchi (drums) are Pájara Rey, a band that updates the sounds of La Movida from the 80s to the present day and stands out for its modern staging .
They recorded their first demo just a few months ago (in February of this year) and, since then, they have not stopped making themselves known in the more alternative musical circuits.
In the 'jijiPUNk' (term coined by themselves) and 'Power Pop' have found shelter, styles as varied as their own influences that materialize in catchy melodies, strong harmonies and lyrics full of irony and sense of humor.
The Meatpies
They were born in 2013 in Murcia and soon after they managed to get into the most recognized group of bands in the Region, thanks to their numerous performances and their presence in the finals of different competitions in the city (they were finalists of the 2016 Pop Rock CreaMurcia) .
Classic, vitalist and American-style rock with colorful vocal harmonies make up the hallmark of the band.
They have published two works that have received a warm reception from critics and audiences: 'Ready for you' and 'Babyrousa'.
They are Pedro Hernández, Juanpe Jiménez, Bruno Laencina, Jaime Leiva and Álvaro Sánchez.
CreaMurcia: a platform to success
The inflection point of this contest and its consolidation as a national platform for Murcian musical talent came in 1998, when the Second group won the then Creajoven.
Since then, bands like Alondra Bentley, Muerdo, Funambulista or the singer Rozalén have passed through this contest that today is a reference in the music scene of the Region.
