Cambiemos Murcia today urged the mayor, José Ballesta, to offer the municipality to host refugees as they have done other cities such as Madrid, Alcoy, Barcelona or Valencia, whose municipality has already begun the process with the Government of the Generalitat so that the ship of the French NGO SOS Méditerranée, with 629 refugees on board, could dock in the port city.

The councilor Margarita Guerrero has pointed out that the City of Murcia has to commit, "beyond the words", to adopt effective measures, allocate more resources in relation to the humanitarian crisis that Europe is experiencing, and thus comply with the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

"The Consistory can not remain impassive," he said.

Guerrero recalled that Ballesta defended in May 2016, within the framework of a meeting of the Governing Board of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), the need to assume its "obligation" as local responsible and "support an intervention for the defense of the rights of those men, women and children who flee from war and terror. The Local Refugee Support Table, without summoning
