This is 100% Murcia technology that guides and provides information in real time to the blind, through an App on the mobile phone that provides artificial vision, through the markers installed on the tram network.
Murcia thus gives an important qualitative leap in the improvement of universal accessibility and becomes the first city in Spain to implement this system in the complete line of the tram.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the managing director of the Tram of Murcia, Severiano Arias, the vice president of the Territorial Council of the ONCE of the Region of Murcia, Inmaculada Carrillo, and the director of Communication and Marketing of Neosistec, Nuria Fructuoso, presented today the innovative system of technological markers and artificial vision that has been installed in the different tram stops in Murcia to guide the blind, so that they can move freely, both at stops and inside this means of transport. transport.
"The system works as a guide that directs space and offers information in real time, through the mobile phone.
It is 100% Murcian technology created by the company Neosistec, an international benchmark in the development of digital solutions committed to people, which has developed a revolutionary algorithm that allows the blind to guide themselves without help and independently, "explained the mayor .
Murcia thus gives an important qualitative leap in the improvement of universal accessibility and becomes the first city in Spain to implement this system in the complete line of the tram (Barcelona also has it, but only in specific sections).
The NaviLens system, which has been presented coinciding with the 7th anniversary of the launch of the tram, is completely free and you can download the mobile App in the App Store and Google Play.
It is spatially oriented and informs about the passing times
Through a system of stickers strategically located at the stops and vehicles of the tram, and the App, people with visual disabilities can walk on the platform and get information about the service in real time and in a sonorous way, which allows them to know where are the architectural elements, where is the vending machine, the validators or the seats inside, as well as the transit times of the tram in both directions.
The system consists of a series of stickers that resemble a QR code, but respond to the application of the App immediately, providing all the relevant information.
The blind person does not need to focus on the stickers with the mobile phone, since they are detected automatically and the blind receive the sound information only by shaking their mobile.
On the other hand, this technology also allows other non-blind users to access information in real time.
Tram of Murcia is working to integrate its current App with the new bookmarks system, so that all users will be able to receive real-time information about incidents, passing times and additional information, such as nearby places of interest or the cultural offer.
