The auditorium of the Museum of Fine Arts of Murcia (MUBAM) hosts this Wednesday, June 6, the presentation of the book 'The Barber of Luis Garay (1893-1956)', which will take place at 20 hours.
The book belongs to the series 'Lienzo y Papel, texto sobre obras de MUBAM'.
The project of this series, directed by Santiago Delgado, president of the Association of Friends and Protectors of MUBAM, began with the aim of creating a literary work inspired by the paintings that are part of the museum's permanent collection.
'La Barbería' is one of the most fascinating paintings that can be seen in the rooms of the Museum of Fine Arts of Murcia.
Its size, its gray and brown colors of loose brushstrokes, the small space and so masculine in which men of different ages coexist who do not seem to communicate with each other, immersed in their inner world, of a somewhat melancholic tone, loudly attract the attention of the visitor .
As a result, in the book you found literary creations: two essays by María del Carmen Riquelme García and Cuca Rodríguez, a poetry by José Ángel Castillo Vicente and three prose texts by Santiago Delgado, Juan José Hernández Sales and Alicia Núñez Brunton.
In the introduction, María Teresa Marín presents Luis Garay as "an artist who defined himself as a humble painter of simple light and popular density".
The event will feature interventions by Francisco Javier Bernal, director of MUBAM;
Santiago Delgado, president of APROMUBAM;
Rosana López Carreño, coordinator of Editum;
Rosario Guarino, coordinator of the humanities classrooms of the UMU;
and Mª Teresa Marín Torres, professor of Art History at the UMU.
