The students of the Master of Spanish Military Law taught by the UCAM visited the NATO facilities of the Supreme General Headquarters of the Allied Forces in Europe (SHAPE, Belgium).
During two days, a great part of the students that attend it received teaching from the Spanish military there destined in matters like the intelligence in the NATO;
special operations within the Atlantic Alliance;
its financing;
cybersecurity;
and legal personality of NATO.
The conference was inaugurated by the maximum Spanish representative in SHAPE, Brigadier General Cesar Augusto Sáenz de Santamaría, who welcomed the students inviting them to make the most of the days.
For his part, the head of the Legal Department of the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Forces in Europe, Andrés Muñoz, said that "legal advice in NATO is a fundamental pillar of the Alliance."
The students learned about the missions that the Atlantic Alliance is currently developing and the operation of NATO's military strategic command, whose main task is to guarantee security and peace in the European continent.
For his part, Juan Carlos de la Cerra, director of the master, thanked Andrés Muñoz for giving them the chance to visit the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Forces in Europe.
In addition, he also reiterated the will of the UCAM to grant scholarships once again to a member of that Legal Department.
In this way, the University wants to thank NATO for its willingness to collaborate with this master's degree that was launched two years ago.
The visit is integrated into the set of activities offered by the master to the students.
Since the beginning of the course they have visited the Directorate General of the Civil Guard, the Supreme Court and the State Attorney General.
In addition, in the coming dates students will visit the Military Penitentiary Establishment, located in Alcalá de Henares.
