The Park and Garden Service, under the Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, continues working on the constant improvement of the green areas of the municipality with the planting of more than 1,500 shrubs.
"What we want is to continue strengthening the image that Murcians have when they walk through our gardens, and, for this, we are planting species such as 'ribbons', 'lavenders', 'myrtles' or 'lantanas' that have been damaged by the passage of people, the action of some animals or inadequate growth ", explains the mayor of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén.
These works are carried out by a team of four people from the company STV Gestión that goes through the different areas of Murcia, mainly the green areas of Santa Isabel, La Seda, or the Chinese Garden, among others.
"To achieve a correct growth of these plants, what is done is to remove the damaged specimen, prepare the soil so that it has enough nutrients, place the new specimen and carry out an irrigation in depth", points out the mayor Guillén.
These actions, developed at the right time of temperatures and climate, join the different tasks of irrigation control that the City carries out in an automated and controlled way through intelligent devices that detect if for example it is raining and it is not necessary the irrigation of that area.
The works are complemented with the substitution, where it is considered necessary, of seasonal flowers, which adorn the different parterres of the municipality, together with the mentioned shrub plants.
