The Murcia Federation of Student Associations -FEMAE- and the Down Syndrome Foundation of the Region of Murcia -FUNDOWN- have announced that they are preparing their first joint days in June 29 and 30 and July 1, in which they intend to " promote the social inclusion of people with disabilities and discuss their passage through the education system. "
A score of students from various institutes of the Region of Murcia will live with people with intellectual disabilities during a weekend in the shared housing that the Foundation has in the Murcia hamlet of Cabezo de Torres.
The participants will carry out leisure and free time activities, will explain what each organization does and will hold workshops on educational, youth and social issues, from which a document will be presented to the Ministries of Equality of Opportunities and Education with the conclusions of the day as an example of good practices that the public administration should encourage and / or perform.
In addition, during the three days will analyze whether the education system is ready to serve people with disabilities.
The assistants of the days will tell their experiences during the classes, the extracurricular activities, as well as they will debate on the preparation of the teachers and the resources that the Administration offers to achieve that the social inclusion and the autonomous life with different capacities is achieved.
On the other hand, the federation of students and the foundation intend to publicize the Center for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy as well as the volunteer work carried out by university students at the University of Murcia.
