The artists Eva Santos, Elena López and Antonio García, professors of the Faculty of Fine Arts, have launched a project called 'From the garden to school' in collaboration with associations of mothers and fathers of students from the neighborhood of El Carmen.
The project will be presented this Wednesday, May 23, at the CEIP Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente (C / Elías Ros, El Carmen neighborhood), at 11 o'clock.
This initiative consists of a participatory artistic experience with the objective of creating symbolic shadows and thus call attention to the serious deficiencies of the conditioning of the courtyards and air conditioning of the classrooms that the center has, as well as other public schools in its environment.
Specifically, the participation of the AMPA of the school Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente has allowed these artists to promote the initiative to weave a kind of awning created with t-shirts of students and sheets drawn by themselves, in order to create shadow areas in the outside of the school.
Eva Santos, coordinator of the process, notes that "the project aims to raise awareness of respect for nature, assess the cultural heritage of the neighborhood and appreciate the participatory work to achieve a common goal."
In addition, being garments already discarded by the students of the center, "we want to emphasize the importance of reuse and how to educate with responsibility in the use of resources," he remarks.
