The University of Murcia has collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in the organization of the exhibition 'More than caves', which opened yesterday at the Archaeological Museum of Murcia.
The exhibition takes a tour of the cave art and archeology of the Almadenes canyon (Cieza and Calasparra, Murcia).
The exhibition, which can be visited until September 30, has been curated by Joaquín Lomba Maurandi, Ignacio Martín Lerma, both professors of the Prehistory area of the UMU, and Joaquín Salmerón Juan, from the Siyasa de Cieza Museum.
In August 2015, a fire caused by lightning struck the area and, since then, nature makes spectacular efforts to recover.
As Lomba explains, "from prehistoric archeology we are trying the same, studying cavities impossible to find, locating new cave paintings and excavating a place occupied for 45,000 years: the Cueva del Arco".
Exhibition schedule:
From Tuesday to Friday, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Saturdays, from 11 to 14 and from 5 to 8 pm.
Sundays from 10 to 14 hours
