The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, the general director of the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF), Alejandro Zamora, and members of the municipal Corporation, presided today closing and delivery of diplomas of the mixed programs of Employment and Training of Youths and Seniors, a program for the promotion of employment in the municipality that has an investment of 1.8 million euros jointly funded by the City Council and the SEF.
There are 31 young people (under 25 years old) and 38 older people (up to 54 years old) who were unemployed and who, over a whole year, have received training in two professional sectors and carried out work experience, obtaining their corresponding certificates of professionalism.
"This program not only provides training but also real professional experience and career opportunities.
In total, the participants have received more than 3,600 teaching hours that include theoretical-practical training, paid professional practices in services of public utility and social interest and complementary qualification, "said José Ballesta.
Specifically, one of the workshops has focused on the construction sector, so that students have been able to specialize in areas such as masonry, electrical installations, plumbing, carpentry and furniture, heating and domestic air conditioning.
The main objective of this project was the construction of the initial phase of the Municipal Aulario de la Fica.
Improvement and maintenance work has also been carried out in the electrical, plumbing and air conditioning installations of different municipal offices.
The other training cycle has been about gastronomy and tourism.
The training actions have been aimed at obtaining three certificates of professionalism: Bar-Cafeteria, Kitchen, and Confectionery and Pastry service.
The participants have participated in the Murcia gastronomic event, elaborated menus and tastings for different groups and Murcian associations, and organized and managed the gastronomic services in different social interest events and public spaces.
