Mercamurcia hosts a day on the consumption of meat in a healthy diet (29/04/2018)

The facilities of Mercamurcia have been the scene this week of the XIII Professional Meeting of the meat sector of the region.

The event, which is held annually, attracts representatives of the sector, as well as members of the Prices of Pork, Cattle and Sheep Prices of the Cattle Market of Mercamurcia.

This is the occasion for a first day of professional content related to the meat sector and of great interest to attendees, focusing on explaining the importance, values ​​and properties of meat consumption within a balanced and healthy diet.

In its first part, meat was treated as a basic ingredient for a balanced diet.

Gaspar Ros Berruezo, Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Murcia, as well as President of the Scientific Committee of AECOSAN (Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition), gave a presentation on "Meat and Health: a balance issue ".

For its part, the intervention of Begoña Patiño Villena, responsible for the Food and Nutrition Programs of the City of Murcia, dealt with the "Consumption of meat and health.

Situation in the Municipality of Murcia ".

The day concluded with the participation of Francisco J. Marqués Benito, Veterinarian of the Technical Service of Small Ruminants of NANTA SA, who explained "The responsible use of medications".
