Provide a first humanitarian shelter and care necessities to people or immigrant families, taking steps to enable their social integration, covering basic needs (of residence, health, education, maintenance and providing support services for adaptation) is a priority objective of Municipality of Murcia.
Since 1993, the City of Murcia has been working and supporting social initiatives that are taking place from the Diocesan Caritas Association Murcia, which include the development of projects such as "host homes for immigrants, where while giving special attention to children.
More than 600 people (children and immigrants) will support the actions undertaken by the association throughout 2010.
The actions included in the project Cayama, shelters and care of children are:
- Development of children and families by raising awareness of the importance of incorporating children to school.
- Development of coexistence and relationship skills that enable proper insertion to active school and social environment from their own cultural identity.
- Create an emotional reference space for children where their basic needs, training, food, entertainment and affection.
- To encourage families to see the importance of having their children attend school regularly, in order to eliminate truancy.
