The City of Murcia has the energy plans and Sucina Bacons Bridge in Brussels (08/06/2010)

The hamlets of Bacons Bridge and Sucina participate in a pilot project called PEPESEC, funded by the European Union and with the collaboration of the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change in Murcia, which is the design and implementation of an energy plan with the aim of at least 20% of the energy consumed in the hamlet from renewable sources.

In addition, this initiative aims to improve energy efficiency by 20% and 20% decrease in emissions of greenhouse gases.

The Councillor for Environment and Urban Quality, Adela Martinez-cache, and municipal engineers presented the project to neighbors and groups in the districts in early 2010, with the aim of which is participatory and open to the public.

One of the responsibilities of the City of Murcia in PEPESEC project has been developing a model for assessing the quality of energy plans made by all participating cities.

This tool has been developed following the methodology proposed in the innovative EFQM European Foundation for Quality Management (European Foundation for Quality Management).

The municipal engineers presented this model in Brussels at an event held at the headquarters of Eurocities, the largest association of European cities last week.

The project has been PEPESEC out Sucina and Bacons Bridge in the 2008-2010 triennium.

The Hall has chosen these two districts as a model because the former is representative of the localities of Campo de Murcia, and the second from the garden.

Once implemented the plan, and after verifying their results, will be other villages.

In the following summary table shows the impact for the measures included in the energy plans of both districts.

The planning horizon of this is the year 2020.

Thus the objectives for both districts are part of municipal objectives for the Covenant of Mayors (Covenant of Mayors) for the whole municipality of Murcia:

(2010-2020)

Bacons Bridge

Sucina

Reducing energy consumption

Primary energy consumption from renewable energies

20.63%

20.63%

CO2 emission reduction

Renewable energy

The main measures for increasing production from renewable sources are: the implementation of solar thermal to produce hot water in homes Sucina and Bacons Bridge and the installation of photovoltaic plants in municipal properties of Sucina.

Energy efficiency

The aim is to reduce by at least 20% of primary energy consumed.

To reduce consumption, improving the efficiency of public lighting by 30%, use LED lamps which consume less and last longer.

It also provides better insulation in homes and businesses, subsidizing actions on the same envelope.

Mechanized mobility reduction and cycle

For neighbors to leave their cars at home will encourage the use of public transport, improving transport lines, and expand the network of bike paths.

In Campo de Murcia there are a total of 23.27 km of cycle paths at present, of which 10.96 km are Sucina.

In the hamlet of Bacons Bridge will create a series of ciclocalles where the speed limit is less than 30 km / h so as to promote coexistence in the driveway of motor vehicles and cyclists.

Connection also will be organized through ciclocalles with the town of Murcia and the surrounding districts of

Farms with environmental improvement

Another objective is to reforest farm plan to turn them into green spaces for the municipality.

In Sucina 1,227,083 meters square (4 farms) were reforested to reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.

It also aims to reduce GHG emissions (greenhouse gases) by 20%.

All these measures are aimed at 2020.
