The poster, entitled "Vegetation of the Sierra de Escalona Altaona and" contains a description of environmental values present in this protected area, with photographs describing the most characteristic plant species in the area, such as palm, juniper, mastic or white rock rose, among others, which have been labeled by a census of vegetation by the participants in the volunteer program developed by the Department of Environment.
The volunteer group consisted mostly of neighbors, aged between 12 and 60 years, and residents in the districts of Sucina, Canadas de San Pedro, Los Martínez del Puerto and Valladolises, who showed great interest in activity and participating in such initiatives for the conservation and improvement of the environment.
This Environmental Volunteer Program, initiated in 2009 has consisted of lectures to raise awareness among the population of the Campo de Murcia, revealing the meaning of heritage values, management and conservation needs of the SPA, in the context Basin territorial Mar Menor, and forming a group of Environmental Volunteer in the hamlets located on the south side of the scope of the SPA.
In addition to these talks were conducted field trips to the Municipal House "The Porches" located within the SPA and the group of volunteers who made paths and botanical surveys.
This campaign is part of the actions promoted by the Foundation Board for the Protection Cluster and Conservation of the Mar Menor, and for activities related to the environment, taking place in the Mar Menor and its area of influence .
Made posters will be distributed by the Cultural Department of the Municipality, especially for those districts of the City of Murcia, located within the area in which the campaign has been carried out, as are the hamlets of Avileses, Bath & Pauper, Cañada de San Pedro, Corvera, and Truyols Gea, Los Martínez del Puerto, Sucina and Valladolises.
