Convalescence Building, home of the Rector of the University of Murcia, tomorrow will host the closing ceremony of the "Coexistence between generations", which is the property of university students with elderly people.
The program aims to foster intergenerational relationships, to accompany young university people over 60 who live alone, while facilitating the provision of student accommodation during the course.
The event, attended by most of the participants of this course, intervene Francisco Guillermo Díaz Baños, Vice Chancellor of University Extension, University of Murcia, María del Carmen García Pelegrin, Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare Policy and Equality Citizen of the City of Murcia, María José Martínez Martínez, Coordinator of Social Projection University Service and Volunteerism at the University of Murcia and Ramona Ruiz Pérez, Head of Senior Service Area of the City of Murcia.
During the current academic year 2009-2010 there were a total of eleven gatherings.
Nine women and two older men have been those who have offered their home for the 2009-2010 academic year eight girls and three boys students.
The project is organized by the Social Screening Service and Volunteerism at the University of Murcia the city of Murcia.
Given the success of this program, organizers report that will reopen at the beginning of next academic year the deadline for applications.
