Edil next to inaugurate the day the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee Alejandro Blanco, and the Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Director of the COE Barcelona Olympic Foundation, Julio Pernas.
At the conference, held in the Spanish Olympic Committee headquarters in Madrid, will present papers on sustainable development of sports policies, economic impact of sports on the natural, legal regulation of sport and the environment, sustainable mobility and sports, environmental education through sport and energy efficiency in sports centers.
The City of Murcia is a landmark in the integration of sport and environment since the Department of Sports and Environment and Urban Quality develop the project 'Green Games' to encourage the construction of sports facilities and develop activities committed to the environment .
This is an initiative to ensure the implementation of good environmental practices in sport.
Murcia City Council acceded to the Convention 'Play Green' signed between the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) to implement environmental and sustainability criteria to the sport at the local level.
Among the measures implemented by the city of Murcia is:

At the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, articulated the Agenda 21 action plan that aims at preserving the environment and the promotion of sustainable development.
In 1999, the IOC approved the Olympic Movement's Agenda 21 and declared the environment as a third pillar of Olympism, alongside sport and culture.
Recently it has created the Environment Committee within the Spanish Olympic Committee and approaches have been implemented environmental projects such as the Madrid 2012 Olympic bid and 2016.
