Some new brochures will guide hikers who want to enjoy the environmental wealth of small municipal park tours Majal Blanco, in the mountains of Carrascoy.
The Department of Environment and Urban Quality edited these triptychs in which, individually, get information on the small paths Cuevas del Vulture (PR-MU35), Barranco Blanco (PR-MU52), Camino de los Arejos (PR- MU34) and Barranco of the Canyons (PR-MU53), all of them low or medium difficulty so they can be crossed by anyone.
These brochures can be obtained in the Hall of Majal Blanco Nature or the Environment Service of the Department.
Paths which has been a triptych are:
"The Way of The Arejos PR has a total length of 7,200 meters and a maximum height reaching 300 meters.
The trail starts on the forest track that leads to the hamlet of Las Carrascas along a path of great ecological value and that conditions are favorable for the development of scrubland, noting also the presence of palms, junipers, mastic , coscoja screened and shaded areas with moss crashed.
"The PR Cuevas del Vulture, with a total distance of 6,000 feet, reaches its maximum slope at a height of 250 meters.
The tour begins in an area of geologic substrate is marl, a type of rock bit compact and highly erodible.
The road leads to the Rambla del Vulture and begin to appear the first flecks of jaguarzo, a shrub of balsamic odor, and also copies of pine like "witches brooms". It should be noted that during the spring butterflies can be found genus Zygaena, mixed between branches and flowers.
"The PR Barranco Blanco, who has a course of 6,900 meters and a vertical drop of 150 meters.
Initially passes through an area of shade being the pine the dominant species of this route.
The road leads to the Cave of the Vulture in its middle-low and the Barranco Blanco where water emerges throughout the year.
"The PR Barranco of the Canyons has a length of 5,100 meters and a vertical drop of 125 meters.
Its route runs through a shady area, through the Rambla de las Cuevas del Vulture, whose bed looks like a mosaic due to the different colors that give rock fragments.
The El Majal Blanco has an area of 636 hectares and is owned by the City of Murcia since 1986.
Located in the Sierra de Carrascoy, it contains important natural values that make this area a special place.
Its location on the northern slope of the Sierra de Carrascoy, with significant slopes and gullies prevalence, causes are exposed to a shade that has conditioned its vegetation.
It should be noted that the holm and cork oak forests are typical of the Mediterranean region although human pressures and the lack of rain has made them go disappearing.
In the case of El Majal Blanco can still find forest patches of these features making it an enclave copy, plus find species such as pine, olive, carob, fig, cypress and eucalyptus.
Regarding the fauna, we must mention the existence of a large diversity of habitats with the appearance of species of interest as long-tailed lizard, the Iberian lizard, lizard Acela, the Montpellier snake or many birds as doves, finches, the golden eagle owl.
We can also find mammalian species such as wild cats, foxes or wild boar.
