Councillor UI + LV in Murcia, Esther Herguedas, today backed the claims to the Bicycle Master Plan (GDP) submitted by the association Murcia bike and has ensured that this document "has important limitations and is just pure looks."
Herguedas has indicated that the scheme, provisionally adopted on 25 March, shows that the commitment of the council for the bike is "doomed to failure" because "it does not introduce significant changes to the model reconduzcan towards sustainable mobility."
He noted that the PBD "signal is limited to a few cycle routes, the majority, 84 percent on roads shared by vehicles and bicycles, but none of them has priority over the other", which makes the situation "does not is far from the present in which cars and bikes sharing the road. "
In his view, "the experience of implementation of the bicycle in cities where this medium is still a minority shows that the best solution is the construction of segregated lanes, yet they represent only 9 percent in the PDB, some of them built on the sidewalk, subtracting space for pedestrians. "
It has also stressed the need to conduct an annual evaluation of the scheme as part of a public participation process, as proposed by the group of bicycle users.
