Murcia has been chosen to provide technical advice to the city of Salé, Morocco, and thus show steps in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
This project, called SURE (Sustainable Urban Energy in the ENPI Region) is part of the City (Urban Development Cooperation and Dialogue) of the European Commission.
It involves, in addition to Murcia, the city of Friedrichshafen (Germany), Polotsk (Belarus) Salé (Morocco).
Also part of the project, the House of Belarus in Germany and the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe.
Thus, Friedrichshafen and Murcia are responsible for providing technical advice to the cities of Polotsk and Sale respectively, in carrying out the Plan of Action for Sustainable Energy and work with them in the implementation of a pilot.
There will also be an interaction and exchange of experiences between Murcia and Friedrichshafen.
In addition Murcia advise members on their experience in signing the Covenant of Mayors endorsed the City Council in early 2009.
Among the actions to be carried out under this project highlights the completion of a pilot plant in the cities of Rabat and Polotsk and holding a week of sharing municipal technicians, in which technicians can come Morocco to know how to perform energy planning in the various departments of the City of Murcia.
The project duration has been established in 30 months.
The project budget is EUR de791.725 which the European Union co-funded by 77.9%.
The project aims at exchanging experiences on energy planning, promotion of the Covenant of Mayors and technical advice for implementation, in order to achieve the objectives described herein (the known target 20-20-20 ), ie reduction of CO2 emissions by 20%, increased energy efficiency by 20% and achieve 20% renewables, all within the horizon of 2020.
