The Instituto Murciano Social Action, journalist Olimpia Navarro and 6 pupils in primary CEIP Our Lady of Bethlehem, Almansa, have won awards for the eighth edition of the National Competition "Premio Grandparents, convened by the Board of Private Nursing Home of Bethany. "

The award ceremony took place this morning at the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall in a ceremony presided by the Mayor, Miguel Angel House, which has also benefited from the presence of the president of the board, Jose Escribano, and Councillor for Economy and Finance, Joaquin Moya-Angel.

Grandparents Award aims to contribute to extol the figure of the elderly and its relevance in today's society.

The purpose of the call, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Murcia, is to recognize individuals, groups or institutions that carry out work which revalue the figure of the older and bring to public light that attention through newspaper articles news and print media, radio, television or Internet.

The origin of this event came about in response to the problem that sometimes suffers from the society to care for elderly people who, in many cases can be solved through an awareness campaign.

The prizes awarded in this eighth edition are as follows:

MORE SOLIDARITY ACTION Award, which recognizes the specific actions to express their interest in the welfare of the elderly.

It is equipped with 2,000 € and figurine, and this time went to the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS) for the development and management of services, programs and services for the care of the highest in the region.

Newspaper reports Prize, awarded to articles or stories published or broadcast in any media local, regional or national reporting on a social concern for the elderly or promoting any activity with them.

It is equipped with 2,000 € and figurine, which have been delivered to the journalist Olimpia Navarro, coordinator of the weekly supplement of information for seniors, "Good morning" in the newspaper La Opinión de Murcia.

In this edition has also been awarded a second prize endowed with £ 500 and Moran Unai statuette on the article "Age does not leave marks," published in the newspaper El Correo de Vizcaya.
